In the autumn of 1969, the exclusive top series of the W111 Coupé and Cabriolet models with the 280 SE 3.5 engine were presented with a much more powerful version than the previous 280 SE version.
The completely redesigned 3.5-liter V8 engine with 200 hp was characterized by a special smooth running. He made it possible to ride a car similar to a sports car. The new models, as well as the further offered 2.8-l variants with six-cylinder engine, were stylistically slightly reworked. Thus, the cooling mask had become about 7 cm lower and wider, and the bonnet was flattened forward. This characteristic feature brought the car in the vernacular the name "Flachkühler" (flat radiator), which is still used until today. The bumpers were also changed. They were now like the limousines, with Chrome Protective provided, which forgave many small park-rummers.
The 280 SE 3.5 Coupé offered by us was completed in the factory on 27 April 1971. Its generous equipment included comfortable electrical window lifts, head insulating glass and an air conditioning system from BEHR in Stuttgart. For the musical entertainment was provided by a quality radio equipment from the Becker. A luxury coupé in the best quality and breathtaking design. In the USA was particularly enthusiastic about the successful Mercedes-Benz line. So it is not surprising that this elegant coupe found its way to sunny California. There the car remained all the years, until it came to the ROSIER Classic stars in 2016 to Germany. Here it was lovingly reworked where necessary and brought into his present fantastically beautiful condition.
